Meet The Teaching Team

Amy & Susan

Amy & Susan are the co-owners and founders of Mandala Yoga. They are passionate about the community that yoga creates and believe in the power of yoga to help students move and feel better on and off the mat.

Amy & Susan

Mandala Yoga Dublin was founded in May 2018 by Amy and Susan.  The pair met whilst teaching and practicing at a local hot yoga studio. When this studio closed unexpectedly, they were determined to keep the community together and find ways to continue to practice together.

After a nomadic existence moving and hosting classes from a variety of locations across south Dublin and doing pop up yoga where we could, we were fortunate to find a home in Haddington Road. The space is airy and light and has a very special energy.  No doubt down to the fantastic yogis who come to practice with us here.

The word 'mandala' means circle which represents our strong community of students, teachers and yogis. We're particularly fond of fun mandala flow classes - where we move and flow around the mat. We look forward to meeting you and being part of this yoga community.

Born and raised in India, “my Yoga journey” has been a part of my life at various levels.
My principles of life are very much in line with the Yoga Philosophy. Asana practice drew my attention to heal from a chronic back injury. Experiencing the benefits of yoga physically as well as energetically, I have only strengthened up my belief system on it.
I have been a corporate geek for a few years before I took up my Teacher Training, purely to immerse in practice and switch off, but litle did I imagine I'd sit on that red teacher's mat, lead a class, share all the learnings from my heart to as many people as I can.
I haven't looked back since.
A mother of two, Ireland is currently home for me. I have found my feet and my community here and would always love to connect heart to heart because - this is my why :)

Keith's 'Yoga Story'  in his words

My introduction to Yoga came in 1997 after I had a back injury related to weight training. I lifted weights for many years with the sole objective of building strength. Yoga was recommended to me to help me to create a balance between strength and mobility in my body. Based on this advice, I devised a self-practice at home learning from books which I found in second hand stores and so the journey began.

After some time the home practice which I cultivated whet my appetite to learn more and so I started to attend classes. I practiced with many teachers, I stumbled upon the fun and dynamic classes of Tony Purcell. By 2003 I decided to quit my job and study yoga in Mysore, under the guidance of BNS Iyengar.

After six months in India, I came to the conclusion that a regimented approach to yoga was no longer for me. It became apparent to me that a more diverse approach to Asana practice could activate stretch receptors in different ways and ultimately enhance mobility.

The first teacher training course which I attended was a two year course with Yoga Therapy Ireland, There was a strong emphasis on safe practice and understanding the anatomy of movement.

In the years after my training, my hunger to broaden my knowledge inspired me to learn from many teachers and explore a variety of styles.

In 2014 I completed a 300hr teacher training course facilitated by the Yoga Room, this training gave me huge insight into practices and approaches to sequencing which have transformed how I practice.

At present I am learning from the Para Yoga lineage of Rod Stryker. There is so much depth to yoga practices in this lineage that it provides me with a beginners mind and humility. My philosophy to teaching is that in order to be a great teacher, I must first be an exceptional student.

The yoga classes which I lead are informed by my personal practice and every class i teach is a sequence which I have practiced myself before offering to students.

I was introduced to yoga 7 years ago by my friend and yoga slowly became passion in my life. In 2017 I completed my 200hr teacher training in Init yoga Dublin and rolled out my mat in front of students of Dublin yoga studios. My passion for teaching come from passion for sharing. I believe that we all are unique and been gifted with individual talents and skills. Some of us are sportsmen, scientist, singers and I believe that I have a gift being able to hold a space for students, guide them through moving meditation and share my experiences and passion for yoga.

My enthusiasm for building strength, obsession for inversion and arm balances shaped in to teacher I am and type of classes I teach. I like to bring playfulness in to practice but also combine with traditional asanas, flow classes tent to be more vigorous and aerobic connecting with inhales and exhales, creating a steady internal rhythm for the practice.

My first introduction to yoga was at the National Maternity Hospital (or ‘Holles Street’ as it’s so fondly known) during my second pregnancy.

The techniques that I learned during my prenatal yoga classes there had a profound impact on my labour and so began my story with yoga…. And in particular my interest in pregnancy yoga and supporting expectant mothers.

Now a mum of two teenage boys, I have been practicing yoga for 15 years. (Where does the time go….)

I first met Susan and Amy practicing at Init Yoga -in the ‘Before Mandala Yoga days’ before leaving to live in Singapore with my family for a few years. It was in Singapore in 2019 that I completed my 200 hour teacher training followed by a 100 hour advanced Hatha Yoga training with the S Vyasa University, India.

After moving back to Dublin in 2022, it’s been great to reconnect with all the Mandala students. I am thrilled to be part of the teaching team sharing yoga and wellness in the workplace and with mums-to-be.
