WINTER - Element of WATER

Descending into Stillness – Honouring the Depth of the Water Element

As Nature turns deeply inwards, we too are being invited to pause, hibernate, dig deep and reconnect with our deepest source of energy.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the Winter season is governed by the Water element — the darkest and most Yin time of the cycle.

Water is the end of the cycle and yet it also represents the beginning of renewal, reminding us that stillness holds the seed of potential and the quiet power of transformation.

In this immersion, we focus on the Water Channels/Meridians — the Kidney and Bladder, which govern vitality, willpower and longevity.

When Water energy flows smoothly, Fear transforms into Wisdom, and we cultivate a deep sense of trust and inner stability.

This Immersion will include

  • A brief introduction to Five Elements and the Water Phase

  • Exploration of the Water personality type.  Its gifts and challenges

  • Yin Yoga & Meditation to direct energy and Qi into the deepest Water pathways

  • Acupuncture to nourish Kidney and Bladder Qi

This is a journey into deep stillness and quiet where body, mind and spirit can realign with the quiet strength of Winter... whilst patiently awaiting the arrival of Spring.

About AcuYoga

At the heart of Eastern Medicine lies the philosophy of the Five Elements Cycle - the interplay of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water.

Each element corresponds to a season, emotion and organ system, reflecting the way our inner world and our energy levels mirror the changing patterns of nature.

Our AcuYoga Series is about helping you recognise and move in harmony with the cycles of Yin and Yang, supporting balance, resilience, and self-awareness throughout the year.

We look forward to the next full elemental cycle beginning in 2026, featuring five new immersive experiences inspired by the wisdom of the Five Elements.

What is Yin Yoga?

Yin Yoga has its roots in the ancient Chinese philosophy of Daoism. At the heart of Daoism is the belief in the need for balance between the twin forces of Yin and Yang that we see everywhere: Darkness and Light; Cold and Hot; Inaction and Action. Yin and Yang complement one another to achieve a state of harmony. Yin Yoga is yoga for the joints with long held poses which targets deep tension and flips the nervous system into rest and digest mode.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a technique for balancing the flow of energy or life force by inserting tiny needles into specific points along the body. Acupuncture is most commonly used to treat pain and disorders but increasingly, it is being used as regular practice for boosting overall wellness and stress management.
