YIN yoga is a SUPER SLOW paced style of yoga. Postures/asanas are held for longer periods of time ranging from two minutes up to five minutes or more. If practicing at home we recommend you keep the room dark - even better by candlelight - and the practice is enhanced by a playlist of suitable music.
Yin yoga poses apply moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body—the tendons, fascia, and ligaments—with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility.
A more meditative approach to yoga, yin aims at cultivating awareness of inner silence and is a wonderful gateway to meditation.
Make sure your space is gently heated and comfortable. Props include cushions, pillows and blankets.
For maximum comfort be sure to wear layers (comfortable clothing and socks!) so you can sink into stillness in this slow and deep practice.
