💧 ACUYOGA - Acupuncture & Yin Yoga - Element of WATER

Taught by Lucia O'Byrne & Susan Ni D
January 16, 2027 14:00 · 2 hours 30 minutes WORKSHOP at MANDALA

WINTER · Element of WATER

Descending into Stillness

Winter invites us inward.

A time to pause. To conserve our energy. To listen more deeply and reconnect with the quiet source within.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Winter belongs to the Water element — the deepest and most Yin phase of the Five Elements cycle.

Water marks both an ending and a beginning. Beneath the apparent stillness of Winter, life is gathering its resources for renewal. It reminds us that rest is not inactivity — it is where potential is restored.

In this AcuYoga immersion, we turn our attention to the Kidney and Bladder meridians, associated with our reserves of energy, vitality, willpower and longevity.

When Water is in balance, fear can soften into wisdom, bringing a deeper sense of trust, steadiness and inner strength.

During this immersion, we will explore:

  • The Five Elements and the qualities of the Water phase
  • The Water personality — its gifts, tendencies and challenges
  • Yin Yoga & Meditation to settle the nervous system and nourish the deeper Water pathways
  • Acupuncture to support Kidney and Bladder Qi

This is an invitation to step out of the momentum of everyday life and descend into Winter’s quiet.

To rest deeply.
To replenish your reserves.
To listen to what is stirring beneath the surface.

And, from that place of stillness, to make space for what wants to emerge in Spring.

Join Lucia O’Byrne and Susan Ní D for our Winter AcuYoga immersion and the beginning of a new journey through the Five Elements.

About AcuYoga

At the heart of Eastern Medicine is the Five Elements Cycle — Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water.

Each element is associated with a season, emotion and organ system, reflecting how our inner landscape and energy naturally shift with the rhythms of the year.

Our AcuYoga Series brings together Yin Yoga, meditation, acupuncture and the wisdom of the Five Elements to help you move more consciously with these seasonal changes — supporting balance, resilience and a deeper connection with yourself.

Winter marks the beginning of our 2027 Five Elements journey, with five immersive experiences unfolding through the seasons.

What is Yin Yoga?

Yin Yoga has its roots in the ancient Chinese philosophy of Daoism. At the heart of Daoism is the belief in the need for balance between the twin forces of Yin and Yang that we see everywhere: Darkness and Light; Cold and Hot; Inaction and Action. Yin and Yang complement one another to achieve a state of harmony. Yin Yoga is yoga for the joints with long held poses which targets deep tension and flips the nervous system into rest and digest mode.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a technique for balancing the flow of energy or life force by inserting tiny needles into specific points along the body. Acupuncture is most commonly used to treat pain and disorders but increasingly, it is being used as regular practice for boosting overall wellness and stress management.
